A Fun Day at the Beach

The sun is high in the sky. It is a very hot day.

Tim wants to go to the beach. He calls his dog, Rex.

Rex is a happy brown dog. He likes the beach too.

Tim puts on his hat. He gets his big blue bucket.

They walk across the soft sand. The sand feels warm.

Tim finds a good spot near the water. He puts down a big towel.

"Look at the water, Rex!" Tim says. The ocean is bright blue.

The waves are small and white. They go up and down.

Tim begins to build. He uses his shovel to scoop sand.

He fills his bucket. He turns it over to make a tower.

Rex wants to help. He digs a deep hole in the sand.

Sandy paws make Tim laugh. "Good job, Rex!" Tim says.

Tim looks for shells. He walks along the wet sand.

He finds a flat stone. He finds a curly pink shell.

The shell is very pretty. Tim puts it in his pocket.

He wants to show his mom later. She likes shells too.

Suddenly, a small crab pops up. It has tiny legs.

The crab walks sideways. It hides under a rock.

Rex barks at the crab. The crab stays very still.

"Do not worry, Rex," Tim says. "The crab is just busy."

The sun gets hotter. Tim and Rex go to the water.

The water is cold on their toes. Splash! Splash! Splash!

A big wave comes in. Tim jumps over the wave.

Rex swims a little bit. He shakes his fur.

Water goes everywhere! Tim wipes his face.

He laughs and splashes Rex back. They are having fun.

Tim gets a snack. He has a red apple.

He has a cool drink of water. Rex drinks from his bowl.

They sit under the shade. The wind blows softly.

It feels nice and calm. Tim looks at the big ocean.

He sees a boat far away. The boat has white sails.

It looks like a tiny dot. The ocean is very big.

The day is almost over. The sun is low now.

The sky is pink and gold. It is time to pack the bags.

Tim puts his toys in the bag. He finds his shoes.

He makes sure he has his pink shell. It is safe.

Rex is tired now. He walks slowly next to Tim.

They walk back to the car. They are sandy and happy.

"We will come back," Tim says. Rex wags his tail.

The beach is the best place to be.
