All About Rockets

A rocket is a very fast ship. It flies high up into the sky.

It can go past the white clouds. It goes all the way to outer space.

Space is very far away from us. It is where the moon and stars are.

Rockets are made of strong metal. They are often very tall and heavy.

A rocket needs power to move. It has big engines at the bottom.

The engines push out hot fire and gas. This push makes the rocket go up fast.

It moves faster than a big jet plane. It makes a very loud rumbling sound.

The ground shakes when the rocket starts. People watch it from a safe place.

A rocket has many important parts. The top part is called the nose cone.

It is pointy like a tall party hat. The long middle part is the main body.

It holds the fuel and the people. The people on the ship are astronauts.

They wear big white suits and helmets. At the bottom, there are small fins.

Fins help the rocket fly in a straight line. They keep the ship steady in the wind.

Rockets can be many bright colors. Many space rockets are painted white.

Some have red or blue stripes on them. Some have a big orange tank on the side.

You might see a flag on the body. The fire at the bottom is very bright.

It can look yellow, orange, or red. It looks like a star on the ground.

The rocket leaves the green earth behind. It gets smaller and smaller in the sky.

Soon, it is in the dark, quiet space. It can go visit the dusty moon.

It can stop at a big space station. The astronauts do science work there.

Later, they come back home to earth. Rockets are amazing tools for us.
