George the Tall Giraffe

George is a very tall giraffe. He lives in a big, green zoo.

George has a long, yellow neck. He has brown spots all over his body.

George likes to stand in the sun. The sun feels warm on his back.

Every morning, the zookeeper comes to visit. Her name is Ms. May.

Ms. May has a big bucket of food. She brings fresh leaves for George to eat.

George reaches high into the tall trees. He uses his long, blue tongue to pick a leaf.

The leaves taste sweet and yummy. George chews them slowly with his big teeth.

Many children come to the zoo today. They wear hats and carry blue balloons.

The children look up at George. "Wow, he is so big!" says a little boy.

George wags his short tail at them. He likes to make new friends at the fence.

A little girl waves her hand at George. George nods his head up and down to say hello.

He is a very friendly and happy giraffe. The zoo is a fun place for him to stay.

In the afternoon, the wind blows softly. George walks to the cool water pond.

He has to spread his long legs wide. Then he can reach down to take a drink.

The water is cold and clear. It feels good after a long, sunny day.

The sun begins to go down in the sky. The sky turns pink and orange and purple.

The visitors go home to have their dinner. The zoo gets very quiet and very still.

George finds a soft spot near the trees. He rests his long neck on his back.

The moon comes out to shine on the grass. George closes his eyes to take a long nap.

He dreams about big trees and sweet leaves. He will see his friends again tomorrow morning.
