A Big Thank You to Officer Rivera

Date: October 14, 2024
Dear Officer Rivera,
I am writing to thank you so much for coming to Oak Creek Elementary School last Friday. Our third-grade class fair was a huge success, and having you there made the whole afternoon extra special. My teacher, Mrs. Gable, told us that community helpers are very busy people who protect and support our town every day. That is why our entire class was thrilled when you volunteered your time to help run our safety game booth.
I want to tell you about two memorable moments that I will never forget. First, I loved watching you help my friend Leo during the bicycle safety relay. Leo was nervous because he had trouble balancing on his two-wheeled bike while weaving through the orange traffic cones. Instead of rushing him, you walked right beside him and showed him how to keep his head up to maintain his balance. You explained that looking forward helps a cyclist steer steadily. When Leo crossed the finish line without knocking over a single cone, you gave him a loud cheer and a high five. He smiled for the rest of the afternoon, and he even told me at recess today that he feels brave enough to ride his bike on the sidewalk near his house.
