HOLDEN: (Adjusting his brand-new, glowing sneakers) I still can’t believe we’re actually here, Shannon. Chapel Hill! The air even smells like basketball history.
SHANNON: It’s not just history, Holden. It’s a scientific anomaly. My teleportation device, the Chrono-Hoop 3000, worked perfectly. We traveled six hundred miles in the blink of an eye to be at the grand opening of the Air Holden’s flagship store.
MICHAEL JORDAN: (Walking onto the stage with a grin) It’s about time you two showed up. Welcome to the house that Air Holden’s built.
HOLDEN: (Starstruck) Mr. Jordan! I mean, Michael! I... I’m wearing them. The shoes. They’re named after me?
MICHAEL JORDAN: They aren’t just named after you, kid. They were inspired by you. Ever since you beat me in that pickup game a few years back, I knew the world needed to see that kind of spark. That’s why I’m giving you a lifetime contract. Free Air Holden’s for life. But we aren’t staying in North Carolina for long. Shannon, is the machine ready for a longer jump?
SHANNON: I’ve recalibrated the molecular stabilizers, Michael. We can reach Los Angeles in approximately three seconds. Why the rush?
MICHAEL JORDAN: Because a friend of mine is waiting. Someone who wants to meet the boy who outplayed the GOAT.
(The lights flash as Shannon activates the device. They reappear on a sleek, private court in Los Angeles.)
LEBRON JAMES: (Dribbling a ball at center court) You’re late, MJ. I was starting to think you were scared I’d beat your travel record. And you must be Holden. I’ve heard all about the sneakers.
HOLDEN: (Gasping) LeBron James? I think I’m going to faint. This is the greatest day of my life.
LEBRON JAMES: Hold that thought, Holden. I’ve been talking to Shannon about her invention. Michael and I have been debating who the Greatest of All Time really is for years. We decided there’s only one way to settle it. Shannon, can you take us back? To 1996?
SHANNON: Traveling back into a specific timeline requires immense energy, but for a showdown like this, I’ll find a way. Holden, grab the spare batteries. We’re going to the Chicago Bulls' practice facility in their prime.
(The scene shifts. The air feels different—colder, with the faint sound of 90s hip-hop in the distance. A younger Michael Jordan is already on the court, looking confused but ready.)
HOLDEN: Look! It’s prime MJ! He looks so fast. And LeBron, you look... well, you look exactly the same, honestly.
LEBRON JAMES: (Lacing up his shoes) Let’s do this. First to eleven. No referees, just respect.
MICHAEL JORDAN: (From the past, looking at the older MJ) This is weird, but I never turn down a challenge. Especially against a guy who looks like he belongs on a Mount Rushmore of basketball.
SHANNON: I’ll keep the Chrono-Hoop running, but we only have a ten-minute window before the timeline starts to collapse. Play fast!
HOLDEN: (Acting as the commentator) The game is on! LeBron starts with the ball. He drives to the hoop with a power I’ve never seen. Two points! Now MJ has it. He fades away... that classic jumper! It’s 2-2.
MICHAEL JORDAN: (The older MJ, watching from the sidelines) Look at his footwork, Holden. That’s what I was trying to tell you. If you want to be a legend, you have to master the basics.
LEBRON JAMES: (Breathing hard) You’re tough, Mike. But I’ve got the range.
HOLDEN: LeBron hits a deep three! Then MJ answers with a spectacular dunk! The score is climbing. 6-6... 8-8... the intensity is unbelievable. The floor is practically vibrating from the force of their movement.
SHANNON: Two minutes left! The energy levels are spiking! The score is 10-10!
HOLDEN: It’s game point. LeBron has the ball at the top of the key. He’s going for the win. He drives, he leaps—he’s going for the signature Tomahawk dunk!
MICHAEL JORDAN: (The younger version) Not in my house!
HOLDEN: MJ soars out of nowhere! He blocks the shot! The ball is loose. MJ recovers it, spins, and launches a fadeaway from the baseline as the buzzer sounds. It’s in! Michael Jordan wins 11-10!
LEBRON JAMES: (Walking over to shake MJ’s hand) Unbelievable. That hang time shouldn't be humanly possible. Respect, man. You really are the GOAT.
MICHAEL JORDAN: (Smiling) And you’re the King, LeBron. But remember, a King still has to look up to the sky.
SHANNON: We have to go, now! The portal is closing!
(With a loud pop, the group is transported back to the present day. Holden is standing in front of his middle school, still wearing his glowing Air Holden’s.)
HOLDEN: Wait, where did they go? Shannon? Michael?
SHANNON: (Walking up behind him, wearing her normal teacher outfit) They had to get back to their lives, Holden. But they left you a little souvenir.
HOLDEN: (Looking at his backpack) My schedule! And... wait, what’s this? A signed jersey from both of them?
SHANNON: Today is the first day of school. Are you ready to tell everyone about your summer vacation?
HOLDEN: (Grinning as his classmates gather around, staring at his shoes) Ready? Shannon, with these Air Holden’s on my feet and the stories I have to tell, I’m more than ready. I’m legendary.
SHANNON: Just remember to finish your science homework first.
HOLDEN: (Laughing) Deal. Hey guys! You won't believe who I played basketball with yesterday!
