NARRATOR: It was a quiet Tuesday afternoon at the Whispering Pines Historical Museum. Maya, Leo, and Sam were volunteering after school, helping the museum curator catalog old municipal records. The archives were packed with leather-bound journals, faded brass surveying equipment, and stacked wooden crates.
MAYA: [Holding a heavy, tarnished brass cylinder] Hey, check this out. I found this cylinder behind a stack of town ledgers from 1888. It has intricate silver engravings all along the sides.
LEO: [Adjusting glasses, leaning in closely] Be careful with that, Maya. That metal looks over a century old. Is there anything inside?
SAM: [Grinning with excitement] Only one way to find out! Unscrew the cap!
