The Land
The Hill Country isn't flat like some parts of Texas. Instead, it has lots of hills and valleys. These hills are made of limestone rock, which you can often see along the roads. The highest point is called Enchanted Rock, a huge pink granite dome where you can hike and see amazing views. Many wildflowers, including the famous Texas Bluebonnets, cover the hills in spring, painting the landscape with color.
Water Wonders
Rivers and creeks are very important to the Hill Country. The water flows over the limestone, creating cool, clear swimming holes. The Guadalupe River and the Pedernales River are popular spots for tubing, kayaking, and fishing. The rivers provide water for people, animals, and plants in the area.
