Grid Match: The Partner Drawing Challenge

Activity Goal
Work cooperatively with a classmate to reproduce a hidden drawing using only clear verbal directions. One player describes a pattern hidden on a small grid, while the other player listens and draws without looking. By the end of the round, both grids should match exactly!
Materials Needed
- Two matching 4-by-4 square grid sheets per pair (printed on paper or drawn on graph paper)
- Two standard pencils with erasers
- One folder, hardcover book, or standing binder to use as a privacy screen
Setup
- Sit directly across from your partner at a flat desk or table.
- Set up your privacy screen upright in the middle of the workspace so neither player can see the other person's paper.
- Decide who will start as Player A (the Director) and who will start as Player B (the Artist).
- Make sure both players label the rows of their 4-by-4 grid with numbers (1 through 4 along the left side) and the columns with letters (A through D along the top). This coordinate system helps both players refer to identical locations.
