Host a Station at the Sixth-Grade Science Poster Walk

Attention Sixth Graders:
Have you completed an investigation, an Earth systems model, or an engineering design project this semester? You are invited to share your learning by hosting a display station at our upcoming Sixth-Grade Science Poster Walk. This event transforms the cafeteria into an interactive gallery where classmates, fourth and fifth graders, teachers, and family members can view your work and chat with you about your process.
Hosting does not mean you have to be a professional scientist with answers to every complex question. Instead, your job is simply to explain what you tested, built, or modeled, describe what went well, and talk honestly about the parts that were tricky or surprising. Visitors are curious to see how you worked through challenges, not just a polished final result.
Event Schedule and Important Times
Because the poster walk spans several periods, the day is divided into three distinct phases. Make sure you understand the difference between each timeframe:
- interactive:
- Involving two-way communication or active physical participation between people.
- briefing:
- A short meeting held to provide necessary information, directions, or instructions.
- logistical:
- Related to the practical planning, organizing, and coordination of an event or operation.
- trifold:
- A presentation board that has three sections, with two outer panels folding over the center.
- prototype:
- An early physical model built to test a design, concept, or process.
- tactile:
- Connected with or experienced through the sense of touch.
- prohibited:
- Formally forbidden by a rule or authority.
- advisory:
- A designated school period where students meet with a teacher for guidance, announcements, or check-ins.
