How to Spot Spring Wildflowers
Spring is a great time to hike at Ha Ha Tonka State Park. You can see many bright wildflowers on the trail. Follow these easy steps to find and identify them.
Step 1: Look at the petals. Count how many petals the flower has. Some blue flowers have five soft petals.
Step 2: Check the color. Yellow flowers like to grow in the sun. Pink flowers often hide in the shade of tall trees.
Step 3: Look at the leaves. Are the leaves round or pointed? Some leaves look like tiny green hearts.
Step 4: Use a guide book. Match the shape and color to the picture in your book. Now you know the name of the flower!
Step 5: Leave the flowers on the trail. Do not pick the flowers. Take a photo so other hikers can see them too.
