Join the Oak Creek Middle School Peer Welcome Team

Note: The following announcement is a fictional classroom example created for student practice.
ATTENTION SEVENTH GRADERS: BECOME A STUDENT WELCOME AMBASSADOR!
Starting middle school can feel like stepping onto a completely different planet. Lockers jam, hallways turn into mazes, and lunch periods move faster than expected. For incoming sixth graders, having an experienced guide makes the difference between feeling completely overwhelmed and feeling right at home. The Oak Creek Student Council and Counseling Office are officially launching the application window for the Oak Creek Peer Welcome Team for the upcoming academic year.
What Is the Peer Welcome Team?
The Peer Welcome Team is a dedicated group of rising eighth graders selected to guide and support new arrivals. While administrators and teachers handle curriculum and school policies, student ambassadors provide practical, everyday insight. In this role, you will be the friendly face showing a confused newcomer how to navigate the stairwells, locate the chorus room, and master tricky locker combinations during the first hectic weeks of autumn.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties
Serving on the welcome crew is an active commitment that begins before the first bell rings in September. Selected members will share several key responsibilities throughout the year:
- ambassador:
- An official representative chosen to welcome, guide, or speak on behalf of a group.
- curriculum:
- The formal courses, subjects, and academic content taught in a school.
- facilitation:
- The act of guiding a process, activity, or group to make it run smoothly.
- advisees:
- Students who receive ongoing direction, advice, or support from a designated mentor.
- standardized:
- Following a consistent, uniform set of rules or criteria for every participant.
- rubric:
- A scoring guide outlining specific criteria used to evaluate performance or assignments.
- endorsement:
- A formal statement or signature expressing approval, support, or recommendation.
