Do you enjoy figuring out tricky riddles, finding paths through twisted mazes, or fitting colorful jigsaw shapes together? If you like to invent, draw, or tinker with brainteasers, the Piece by Piece Puzzle Makers Club is ready for your ideas! Our new after-school club invites all fourth-grade students to explore how puzzles are designed, built, and solved.
What We Do Each Week
Puzzle makers do not just solve challenges created by other people. Instead, we learn how to create original games from scratch. In our weekly workshop sessions, club members explore different types of puzzle crafts:
- Cardboard Jigsaw Design: Turn your own drawings, maps, or collage art into sturdy tabletop puzzles. Using thick poster board, safe craft scissors, and specialty edge templates, you will learn how interlocking tabs and blanks keep pieces snug.
- Word and Number Grids: Learn the secrets behind balanced crosswords and hidden-word searches. You will practice using graph paper to weave vocabulary words together across rows and columns.
- Tactile Mazes and Marble Runs: Use recycled shoebox lids, wooden craft sticks, and air-dry clay to build three-dimensional mazes with raised walls, traps, and dead ends.
- Logic Riddles and Secret Codes: Discover substitution ciphers, symbol alphabets, and matching logic grids that challenge readers to deduce the correct answer through clues.
- interlocking:
- Connecting or fitting together closely so that parts do not easily come apart.
- templates:

- deduce:
