Leo's Big Day by the Bay

Leo woke up early with a wide smile on his face. Today was the day his family was going to explore San Francisco. He ran to the window and pulled back the white curtains. The morning air was cool and gray with soft fog. Leo could see steep streets that looked like giant roller coasters. His mom called him to the kitchen for breakfast. Leo ate his toast quickly because he was ready to go. His little sister, Maya, put on her green sweater. Dad checked the map and said it was time to start their big adventure.
They walked down the sidewalk toward the corner of the street. Leo heard a cheerful sound in the distance. Clang! Clang! Clang! It was the bell of a famous cable car. The cable car was bright red and yellow, with rows of wooden seats. Dad helped Leo and Maya climb up the metal steps. Leo held onto the smooth wooden pole with two hands. The bell rang again, and the car jerked forward with a happy rumble. It felt like they were riding on a moving toy train through the city.
