Lunchtime Debate

Characters:

  • Percy the Pig
  • Daisy the Cow

(Scene: A sunny farmyard. Percy the Pig and Daisy the Cow are standing near a trough.)

Percy: (Sniffs the air) Oh, Daisy, I'm absolutely famished! What do you think Farmer Giles will bring for lunch today?

Daisy: (Chewing thoughtfully) Well, if it were up to me, it would be a mountain of fresh, green grass. Nothing beats a good grazing session.

Percy: Grass? Daisy, how can you eat that all day? It's so...green. I'm hoping for a big bucket of slop! You know, with all the good stuff – maybe some leftover apples, a bit of corn, even a crust of bread!

Daisy: (Wrinkles her nose) Slop? That sounds dreadful, Percy! All mixed together and...well, not very refined.

Percy: Refined? Daisy, it's delicious! It's got everything! A little bit of this, a little bit of that. It's like a surprise in every bite!

Daisy: (Sighs contentedly) I suppose. But there's nothing quite like the simple pleasure of grass. It's so fresh and clean.

Percy: Fresh and clean? It's bland! It's like eating...well, like eating nothing! I need something with flavor, something with oomph!

Daisy: (Giggles) Oomph? You certainly have a way with words, Percy.

Percy: (Nods seriously) It's true! A pig needs his slop! It's what keeps me going.

Daisy: (Swishes her tail) And a cow needs her grass! It's what gives us the best milk.

Percy: (Eyes widen) Milk! Maybe Farmer Giles will give us some milk with our lunch! That would be a good addition to my slop.

Daisy: (Chuckles) I think I'll just stick to my grass, thank you very much. But you enjoy your…surprise in every bite!

(Farmer Giles approaches with two buckets.)

Farmer Giles: Alright you two, lunchtime! Fresh grass for Daisy, and a special slop surprise for Percy!

Percy: (Squeals with delight) Hooray!

Daisy: (Moos happily) Thank you, Farmer Giles!

(Percy dives into his slop with gusto. Daisy contentedly munches on her grass. They both enjoy their lunches, even if they don't understand each other's tastes.)
