Scene 1: The Old Malecón
Narrator: The story of Malecón 2000 begins long ago, when the riverfront of Guayaquil, Ecuador, was old and worn. It wasn't a place where people wanted to spend their time.
Sofia: (Sighing) I remember when the Malecón was just… there. Nothing special. A bit dirty, even.
Carlos: (Nodding) Yes, it was mostly old warehouses and not very safe at night.
Scene 2: A Vision for Change
Narrator: But some people had a vision. They wanted to transform the Malecón into a beautiful place for everyone.
Isabella: (Enthusiastically) We dreamed of a space where families could stroll, where tourists would visit, and where everyone could be proud of our city.
Narrator: The idea was to create a modern, safe, and attractive waterfront.
Scene 3: Construction Begins
Narrator: The project began in the late 1990s. It was a huge undertaking, involving many workers and lots of planning.
Carlos: I remember seeing the construction. It was noisy, but exciting. We knew something big was happening.
Sofia: They worked hard to clean up the riverfront and build new walkways, gardens, and plazas.
