My First Thanksgiving Parade

November 24
Dear Diary,
Today was a very special morning. I went to our town Thanksgiving parade for the first time! The morning air was super chilly and cold. I wore my thick blue coat, my red mittens, and a warm fuzzy hat. Dad gave me a cup of warm apple cider to hold.
We stood on the sidewalk with all our neighbors. Soon, I heard loud drums boom down the street. A big marching band walked past in shiny gold uniforms. Then, giant colorful floats rolled by with dancers and singers. Everyone clapped their hands and cheered loudly.
Then, something funny happened right in front of us. A little brown puppy ran out onto the street wearing a tiny pilgrim hat! He chased a stray yellow balloon and barked happily at the clown. The clown gave the puppy a gentle pat, and the whole crowd laughed. The puppy's owner scooped him up with a big smile.
After the parade ended, we walked home to eat warm pumpkin pie. My toes were cold, but my heart felt happy. I loved seeing the music, the colors, and the funny puppy. I cannot wait to go back to the parade next year!
