The state's five largest communities—Las Vegas, Henderson, Reno, North Las Vegas, and Enterprise—each have unique geography, culture, and history that make them special places to live and visit.
Geography of the Silver State's Big Five
Four of Nevada’s five largest cities are clustered close together in the southern part of the state, located within the warm Mojave Desert. Las Vegas sits at the center of a large valley surrounded by reddish mountains. Right next to Las Vegas are Henderson, North Las Vegas, and Enterprise. Enterprise is an unincorporated town, which means it shares services with the surrounding county rather than having its own city hall, but its massive population makes it one of Nevada's largest urban areas. Because these four communities share the same southern valley, they experience hot summers and mild winters.
