Princess Lily and Barnaby the Bat

Princess Lily and Barnaby the Bat
Once upon a time, in a big castle, lived a princess named Lily. Lily loved to play outside, but she was often lonely. She wished she had a friend to play with.
One sunny afternoon, Lily was playing in the castle garden. She saw something dark hanging upside down from a tree. It was a little bat! Lily had never seen a bat up close before.
"Hello," Lily said softly. The bat opened its eyes. "Hello," it squeaked. "My name is Barnaby."
Lily smiled. "I'm Princess Lily. Do you want to play with me?"
Barnaby wiggled his ears. "Play? What's that?"
Lily giggled. "We can run and jump! We can look for flowers! We can even build a sandcastle!"
Barnaby had never done any of those things. But he wanted to try. So, Lily and Barnaby played all afternoon. They ran, jumped, and looked at flowers. Barnaby even tried to help Lily build a sandcastle, but he mostly just made funny squeaking noises.
From that day on, Princess Lily and Barnaby the Bat were the best of friends. They learned that even though they were very different, they could still have lots of fun together.
