Rex Plays Soccer

Once upon a time, in a land with tall, tall trees and big green ferns, lived a T-Rex named Rex. Rex loved to watch other dinosaurs, but he didn't want to eat plants or sleep in the sun like them. Rex had a secret dream: he wanted to play soccer!

Rex's Big Idea

Most T-Rexes like to stomp and roar. But Rex loved to watch the speedy dinosaurs play with a big, round fruit. They looked like they were having so much fun! Rex wanted to play, too.

But there was a problem. Rex had very short arms. "How can I kick the ball?" he wondered, looking at his tiny arms.

Team Dino is Born

Rex didn't give up. He went to see his friends: Terry the Triceratops, Benny the Brachiosaurus, and Annie the Ankylosaurus. "Friends," Rex said, "I want to play soccer! Will you be on my team?"

Terry tilted his head. His horns shined in the sun. "Soccer? But Rex, your arms are very short."

"I know," said Rex. "But I have strong legs and I won't quit!"

Benny was always happy. He bent his long neck down to Rex. "We will help you, Rex! We can all play together."

Annie didn't talk much, but she nodded her head. "I will be the goalie! No one will get past my tail!"

Soccer Practice

So, Team Dino started to practice. It was funny and messy. Rex would run to kick the ball, but he would often miss and fall down! Terry used his horns to pass the ball. Benny used his long neck to help get the ball to Rex. And Annie stayed near the goal to stop the ball.

Rex learned to use his big tail to keep his balance. He learned to kick the ball hard with his strong legs. He wasn't the best soccer player, but he was the most excited!

The Big Game

The day came for the valley soccer game. Team Dino was playing against the Raptors. The Raptors were fast and good at soccer. All the dinosaurs cheered.

The game was close. The Raptors ran fast and kicked hard. But Team Dino didn't give up. Terry made good blocks. Benny caught the high passes. And Annie stopped every ball that came near her.

Then, it was Rex's turn. Terry passed the ball right to him. Rex roared and kicked the ball as hard as he could! The ball flew into the Raptors' net!

Team Dino won the game! Rex, the T-Rex who wanted to play soccer, showed everyone that if you try hard and work together, you can do anything!
