Hi everyone,
Thanks again for staying late yesterday afternoon to sort through the team registration slips and equipment bins. We have only forty-eight hours until the Annual Oak Creek Spring Charity Relays on Friday, May 17. Because three runners had to drop out due to band rehearsals and an injured ankle, I have reorganized our team rosters and redistributed our volunteer stations.
More importantly, the weather report now indicates a seventy-percent probability of thunderstorms starting around noon on Friday. Mr. Alvarez gave us permission this morning to shift the entire competition into the main gymnasium if the grass track becomes waterlogged. Please read through this updated plan carefully so each of you knows your precise responsibilities, regardless of where the races take place.
1. Updated Seventh-Grade Relay Rosters
To keep each race balanced and fair, each relay heat requires four runners covering equal distances. Here are the confirmed lineups:
- reorganized:
- Arranged or structured something again in a new, more effective order.
- waterlogged:
- Completely soaked or saturated with water, making ground spongy or flooded.
- substitutes:
- People who step in to take the place or role of others who cannot participate.
- corridor:
- A narrow path, lane, or passageway marked off for movement.
- traction:
- The grip or friction between a shoe sole and a surface that prevents slipping.
- perimeter:
- The continuous outer boundary or edge that encloses a specific area.
- amplify:
- To increase the strength, volume, or intensity of a sound or signal.
