Narrator: Welcome to the cozy, warm kitchen of a cottage in Galway, Ireland. Outside, a soft rain falls against the windowpane, but inside, a turf fire crackles in the hearth. Three young musicians are unpacking their instruments, getting ready for tonight’s traditional Irish music session, or seisiún.

Fiona: [Unlatching her hard-shell case and lifting out her instrument] I am so excited for tonight! The community hall will be packed with musicians from all over the county. I’ve been practicing this new reel on my fiddle all week. My fingers are finally flying across the strings!

Sean: [Tapping a circular, wooden frame drum with his hand] Don't forget about the rhythm, Fiona! A great fiddle tune needs a steady beat to keep the dancers moving. My bodhrán is ready. I just need to apply a tiny bit of water to the goatskin drumhead so it has that deep, warm tone.

Maeve: [Polishing a small, silver metal pipe with a cloth] Don't leave me out! My tin whistle is polished and ready to soar. Together, the fiddle, the drum, and the whistle will make the perfect trio. But Sean, remember not to play too loudly. The bodhrán should support the melody, not drown it out!
