Lions have big bodies and strong legs. They have a long tail. Male lions have a mane. The mane is like a big, furry necklace around their head. It makes them look bigger and stronger.

Where Lions Live

Lions live in the grasslands and savannas of Africa. These are big, open spaces with lots of grass and few trees. They like warm places where they can hunt for food.

What Lions Eat

Lions eat meat. They hunt animals like zebras, wildebeests, and buffaloes. They work together in groups to catch their food. This is called hunting in a pride. The lions share the food with each other.

Lion Cubs

Baby lions are called cubs. The cubs stay with their mothers. The mothers teach them how to hunt and stay safe. Cubs are playful and like to tumble around. They grow up to be big, strong lions.
