I am writing this in the very back of my blue spiral notebook because nobody ever looks past page twenty. If anyone finds this, please return it to Casper in Room 204. Unless you are the person responsible for the weird things happening in our school, in which case, I am onto you.
It all started this morning during morning announcements. Usually, Principal Vance just drones on about the recycling drive and bus safety. Today, right in the middle of the lunch menu, the loudspeaker crackled. A strange scratching sound echoed through the whole building, followed by a faint, ghostly whistling tune. Principal Vance cleared his throat and claimed it was static on the microphone, but static does not whistle a melody. After homeroom, I checked the intercom box by the door. Around the metal edge, I found tiny bits of bright orange fuzz.
October 28
Things got stranger today in the library. Mrs. Gomez had stacked twenty copies of a pumpkin mystery book on the center display table. When my reading group walked in after recess, every single book was gone. We looked under the beanbag chairs and behind the globe, but the shelves were bare.
