The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities is thrilled to announce the official grand opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM). Located just a stone’s throw away from the majestic Great Pyramids of Giza, this state-of-the-art facility is now ready to welcome travelers from all corners of the globe. As the largest archaeological museum in the world dedicated to a single civilization, the GEM invites you to step back in time and discover the wonders of ancient Egypt.

Our museum is designed to be a bridge between the past and the future. As you enter the grand atrium, you will be greeted by the colossal statue of King Ramses II, which stands over 30 feet tall and is more than 3,200 years old! From there, you can ascend the Grand Staircase, which offers a breathtaking view of the Pyramids through a massive glass wall.

The highlight for many visitors is the Tutankhamun Gallery. For the very first time in history, the entire collection of King Tutankhamun’s treasures—consisting of over 5,000 artifacts—is displayed together in one place. You will see his famous golden mask, glittering jewelry, royal chariots, and even the everyday items he used during his reign.

To ensure a safe and enjoyable visit for everyone, please review the following guidelines before your arrival:

  • Operating Hours: The museum is open daily from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Last entry is at 5:00 PM.
  • Tickets: We highly recommend booking your tickets online in advance through our official website to secure your entry time.
  • Photography: Personal photography without a flash is allowed in most galleries. However, flash photography and tripods are strictly prohibited to help preserve these delicate, ancient objects.
  • Guided Tours: Audio guides are available in ten different languages at the visitor information desk. You can also book a guided tour with one of our certified Egyptologists.
  • Accessibility: The museum is fully wheelchair accessible, with ramps and elevators located throughout the building.

We are incredibly proud to share Egypt's rich history and cultural heritage with the world. Whether you are a young explorer, a student, or a lifelong history enthusiast, the Grand Egyptian Museum promises an unforgettable adventure. We look forward to seeing you soon!
