Did you know your body has a special road map? This map is made of many tiny tubes. These tubes carry blood to every part of you. This whole system is called the circulatory system. It works all day and all night without a break. Your heart is the big boss of this system. It pumps the blood to keep it moving through your whole body.
Blood travels through three main kinds of tubes. The first kind is called an artery. Arteries carry bright red blood away from your heart. This blood is full of oxygen that your body needs to grow. The walls of these tubes are very strong and thick. They can handle the big push of the heart. Most of these tubes are deep inside your body to stay safe.
Next, the blood goes into very small tubes. These tiny tubes are called capillaries. They are so small that you cannot see them without a tool. They reach every little corner of your body. Here, the blood gives food and air to your cells. Then it picks up things the body does not need anymore. This is a very important job for your health.
Finally, the blood needs to go back to the heart. It travels through tubes called veins. Veins bring the blood back so it can get more oxygen from the lungs. These tubes have special doors called valves. These doors keep the blood flowing in the right way. Most veins are closer to your skin. You might even see blue lines on your wrist that are veins.
All these tubes work together like a big team. They make sure every part of you gets what it needs to work. Your toes, your brain, and your fingers all get blood. Exercise makes your heart pump even faster and stronger. Eating healthy food helps your blood vessels stay clean. Your circulatory system is a truly amazing part of you!
