Group pictures by a shared feature

A picture sorting worksheet gives students eight illustrated topic cards and two named groups. Learners cut out the cards, notice the category labels and decide where each picture belongs. They can explain the feature that connects items in a group.

This format sorts illustrated topic vocabulary. For sorting written statements by whether they can be checked or express a judgment, use the facts versus opinions organizer.

Talk through each sorting choice

Before cutting, ask students to predict what belongs in each group. They can place one card at a time, explain a choice to a partner and revise it if the category no longer fits. The conversation makes their classification reasoning visible.
