Your Friendly Skeleton
Inside your body is a friendly frame of bones. This frame of bones is called your skeleton.
Your skeleton gives your body its shape. Without bones, you would wiggle on the floor like a worm!
Bones are very hard and strong. They work together to keep you safe and healthy.
Your skull is the smooth bone in your head. It protects your brain like a hard bike helmet.
Your ribs are curved bones in your chest. They hold your heart and lungs in a safe cage.
Your skeleton is made of more than two hundred bones! Where two bones meet, they form a joint.
Your knees, hips, and elbows are all joints. Joints help your arms and legs bend and swing.
You can walk, run, jump, and dance because of your joints and bones. As you grow bigger, your bones grow longer and stronger too!
How can you take good care of your bones? You can drink milk and eat healthy food with calcium.
You can also run, play, and get plenty of exercise outside. Exercise helps your bones stay tough.
Your skeleton is a super helper inside your body every single day. Give your knees a gentle tap and say thank you to your awesome bones!
