Barnaby was a very small kitten. He had soft orange fur and white paws.
He lived in a big house with a girl named Lily. Lily loved to play with her new pet.
They played with a red ball every morning. Barnaby liked to chase the ball across the floor.
One sunny day, Lily opened the back door. Barnaby walked out into the green grass for the first time.
The sun felt warm on his fur. He sniffed a pretty yellow flower in the yard.
Suddenly, something blue moved in the air. It was a big, bright butterfly.
Barnaby stopped and looked at the blue wings. He felt a little bit scared of the new friend.
He hid his face behind a large green leaf. He did not want the butterfly to see him.
The butterfly flew in a circle. It landed right on top of a stone near Barnaby.
Barnaby watched the butterfly move its wings. He thought the butterfly looked very pretty.
He decided to be a brave kitten. He moved his paws slowly out from the leaf.
Barnaby let out a tiny meow. He wiggled his tail and jumped into the air.
The butterfly flew up high. Barnaby ran after it through the soft grass.
Lily clapped her hands and laughed. "You are such a brave kitten, Barnaby!" she said.
Barnaby felt very happy and proud. He was ready for more adventures in the garden.
