Sam and Luna

Sam was very happy today. He got a new pet kitten.

The kitten was small and soft. Her fur was as white as snow.

Sam named the kitten Luna. Luna had big green eyes.

She liked to chase her tail. She liked to run fast.

Sam had a long piece of string. He moved the string on the floor.

Luna jumped up high in the air. She tried to catch the string.

Sam laughed at the funny kitten. They played for a long time.

Later, it was time for lunch. Sam went to get a small bowl.

He put some milk in the bowl. He called for Luna to come eat.

Luna did not come to the kitchen. The house was very quiet.

Sam looked under the big brown couch. He did not see the kitten there.

He looked behind the yellow curtain. Luna was not hiding there either.

Sam started to feel a bit worried. He walked into his own bedroom.

He looked inside his toy box. He saw his cars and his blocks.

But he did not see any kitten. Sam sat down on his soft rug.

Then he heard a very tiny sound. It sounded like a little meow.

The sound came from the closet. Sam opened the closet door slowly.

He saw a pile of warm socks. The socks were moving a little bit.

Sam reached out his hand. He moved a blue sock to the side.

There was Luna, curled in a ball. She was fast asleep in the socks.

Luna opened her big green eyes. She gave a long, slow yawn.

Sam picked her up very gently. He was glad he found his friend.

"It is time to eat," Sam said. He carried Luna to the kitchen.

Luna drank all of her milk. Then she sat down to clean her paws.

Sam sat on the floor with her. He petted her soft white fur.

Luna began to make a loud sound. Purr, purr, purr, went the kitten.

Sam knew that Luna was happy. He was happy to have a kitten too.
