Barnaby was a big, fluffy orange cat. He had a long tail and soft paws.
He liked to nap in the warm sun. He also liked to chase red dots.
One morning, Barnaby saw a book. The book had a picture of a unicorn.
The unicorn was white and had a horn. It looked very magical.
Barnaby wanted to be magical too. He looked at his reflection in a bowl of water.
He did not have a horn. He only had two pointy ears.
His friend Lily came into the room. She had a surprise for him.
It was a shiny silver horn made of foam. It had a pink ribbon.
Lily put the horn on Barnaby’s head. She tied the ribbon under his chin.
"Now you are a cat-unicorn," Lily said with a smile.
Barnaby felt very special. He stood up tall on his four legs.
He tried to gallop across the rug. He went "thump, thump, thump."
He tried to make a magical sound. He did not say "meow."
He tried to say "neigh," but it came out like a tiny squeak.
Suddenly, Barnaby saw a yellow yarn ball. He forgot he was a unicorn.
He pounced on the ball with his claws. The silver horn fell over his nose!
Barnaby shook his head fast. He looked very funny with a horn on his nose.
He looked like a cat with a long, shiny nose. Lily started to giggle.
Barnaby did not mind. He liked making Lily happy.
He rolled over on his back. He showed his fuzzy belly.
Lily gave him a bowl of milk. She called it "magic juice."
Barnaby drank all the milk. It tasted very good.
Being a unicorn was hard work. Barnaby felt very sleepy now.
He walked to his soft bed. He kept the horn on his head.
He closed his eyes and purred. He dreamed of flying over green hills.
He was the best cat-unicorn in the whole world.
