The Pirate and the Clever Parrot

Captain Sam was a brave pirate. He had a big hat and a red coat.

He lived on a large wooden ship. The ship sailed on the deep blue sea.

The wind blew the white sails. The ship moved fast over the waves.

Captain Sam had a best friend. His friend was a bright green bird.

The bird's name was Pip. Pip was a very smart parrot.

Pip liked to sit on Sam’s shoulder. He liked to watch the fish jump.

One sunny day, Captain Sam was sad. He could not find his shiny silver key.

The key opened a big brown chest. The chest was full of old maps.

"Where is my key?" Sam asked. He looked in his deep pockets.

The key was not there. He looked under his big black boots.

Pip wanted to help his friend. He flew all over the big ship.

Pip looked in the kitchen. He looked near the heavy anchor.

Then, Pip flew high into the sky. He looked down at the wooden deck.

He saw something spark in the sun. It was hiding under a pile of rope.

Pip landed on the rope and chirped. "I found it! I found it!" he cried.

Captain Sam ran to the green parrot. He moved the rope with his hands.

There was the shiny silver key! It was safe and sound.

Sam smiled a very big smile. "You are a great helper, Pip!"

Sam used the key to open the chest. Inside were many gold coins.

The coins were bright and round. Sam felt very happy now.

He gave Pip a yummy yellow cracker. Pip ate the snack and sang a song.

They were the best team on the sea. They sailed off to find a new island.
