Mia and Ben had a free day. They made a list of fun things to do.

“Let’s go skating!” said Mia. But dark clouds filled the sky.

“Let’s go cycling first,” said Ben. “We can ride to the park and back.”

They put on their helmets and rode down the path. At the park, they saw a net and a ball.

“Can we play volleyball?” Mia asked. They hit the ball back and forth until a drop of rain fell on Ben’s nose.

Soon, big drops hit the path. Mia and Ben rode home fast.

Inside, they watched cartoons and played video games. Then they got out a puzzle with a picture of the sea.

“Where is the last piece?” asked Ben. They looked under the table and on the rug.

Mia found it next to her box of cards. She liked to collect cards with pictures of birds.

They put the last piece in place. Just then, the sun came out.

“Now can we go skating?” Mia asked.

Ben looked at the wet path. “Not yet. But we can go swimming at the pool!”

Their dad took them to the pool. They splashed and swam until it was time to go home.

That night, Mia wrote in her diary. She drew a tiny bird and a big sun.
