Design, Write, and Publish: The Mini-Magazine Workshop!

Have you ever wanted to see your original artwork, stories, or favorite hobbies in print? Do you have an amazing recipe, an exciting comic strip idea, or an opinion about school lunches that you want to share? If so, your voice belongs in the spotlight! Welcome to the fifth-grade Mini-Magazine Workshop, an after-school creative studio where students transform simple blank paper into vibrant, pocket-sized publications known as zines.
A mini-magazine is a short, handmade booklet created by folding and cutting a single sheet of paper into eight neat pages. During this four-week workshop, you will learn every phase of the publishing process. In week one, you will brainstorm themes, outline your concept, and discover who your readers will be. Will your publication review the best chapter books in the library, teach tips for soccer drills, or tell an illustrated mystery about a talking hamster? The choice is entirely up to you.
