Making Leaf Animals
Autumn is here! The trees drop colorful leaves in red, orange, and yellow.
You can collect these leaves outside. Then, you can turn them into fun animal art.
What You Need
- Colorful fall leaves
- Sturdy paper
- School glue
- Crayons or markers
Step 1: Collect Your Leaves
Go outside with an adult. Look for leaves of many different shapes and colors.
Pick leaves that are clean and dry. Flat leaves work best for paper crafts.
Step 2: Pick Your Animal
Look at the shapes of your leaves. Think about which animal you want to make.
A round leaf makes a great belly for a round owl. Small, pointed leaves can be prickles for a hedgehog.
A bright orange leaf looks like the body of a clever fox. A fan of red and brown leaves makes nice feathers for a turkey.
Step 3: Glue the Leaves Down
Place your paper flat on the table. Move the leaves around on the paper first to test your idea.
Put small dots of glue on the back of each leaf. Press the leaves down gently on your paper.
Step 4: Add the Details
Use your crayons or markers to finish your animal. Draw eyes, beaks, noses, and little feet.
You can also draw grass and trees around your animal. Let the glue dry completely, and show your work to your family!
