The Cake Calamity

The Cake Calamity
Maya had a profound weakness for cake. It wasn't just a casual liking; it was a full-blown obsession. One Saturday, her dad, a culinary enthusiast, created a masterpiece: a towering vanilla cake adorned with ribbons of rich chocolate frosting and a cascade of colorful sprinkles. The aroma alone was intoxicating.
"Maya," her dad announced with a grin, "you can savor a slice after lunch. Patience is a virtue, remember."
But patience was not Maya's forte, especially when cake was involved. The anticipation was excruciating. She surreptitiously glanced into the kitchen. Her dad was engrossed in his gardening. A mischievous plan began to formulate in her mind. With the stealth of a seasoned operative, Maya crept into the kitchen. The cake beckoned from the counter, practically chanting her name. She sliced a substantial piece, the layers yielding to her eager knife. The taste was heavenly, an explosion of vanilla and chocolate. Convinced that another slice wouldn't cause any harm, she indulged again. And then again. Before she could fully grasp the consequences, Maya had devoured nearly half the cake.
Inevitably, her stomach rebelled. A series of ominous rumbles and gurgles signaled impending doom. "Oh, dear," she moaned, clutching her abdomen. "I fear I may have succumbed to excessive cake consumption!" She felt bloated, nauseous, and deeply regretful. When her dad entered the house, he immediately noticed her distress.
"What troubles you, Maya?" he inquired, his brow furrowed with concern. "You look rather green around the gills."
Maya confessed her egregious act of cake gluttony. Her dad responded with a gentle chuckle. "Sometimes," he explained, "even the most delectable treats can inflict discomfort when consumed in excess. Moderation, my dear, is the key to sustained enjoyment. Remember, appreciating a small portion is often more rewarding than succumbing to unrestrained indulgence."
Maya had undoubtedly absorbed a valuable lesson. That evening, she relished a modest slice of cake after dinner. Her stomach was content, and she appreciated every morsel with newfound gratitude.
