The Great Welcome Sign

Characters:
- Narrator
- Leo
- Maya
- Sam
Setting: A sunny classroom table with a big sheet of white paper and markers.
Narrator: Today is the day before the school open house. Three friends sit together at a table. A large piece of white cardboard rests in the middle.
Leo: We need to make the best welcome sign ever! I have a plan. We should draw giant space rockets all over it. Rockets are exciting!
Maya: Wait, Leo. Space rockets are cool, but this is a school sign. I think we should draw big, bright flowers. Flowers make people feel happy and warm.
Sam: Hold on, both of you. What about animals? We can draw friendly puppies and kittens. Everyone loves cute pets!
Narrator: Leo, Maya, and Sam cross their arms. Nobody picks up a marker. The white paper stays empty.
Leo: If we only draw flowers, it will look like a garden shop, not Room 2B.
Maya: And if we only draw pets, it will look like an animal shelter.
Sam: Well, if we only draw rockets, people might think we are flying to Mars!
Narrator: The three friends look at the blank paper. The clock on the wall ticks loudly. Maya taps her chin.
