Mark your calendar for Tuesday, September 8, 2026, and join us for the annual Maplewood Literacy Day Extravaganza at the Maplewood Public Library and Town Green.

From 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., our town center will transform into a lively festival dedicated to young readers, curious writers, and creative thinkers. Admission is completely free, and there is something exciting around every corner!

Check out the awesome activities planned for you:

• The Great Book Swap: Bring up to five gently used books from home and trade them for fresh, thrilling titles at our giant outdoor exchange pavilion. Leave with a new collection without spending a single penny!
• Comic Book Creators' Workshop: Team up with professional graphic novelists at 11:00 a.m. to learn how to design characters, sketch dynamic panels, and script your own graphic stories.
• The Mystery Reader Stage: Every hour, surprise guests—including local firefighters, illustrators, and beloved teachers—will read aloud their favorite childhood classics under the shade tent.
• Library Clue Hunt: Test your detective skills by following literary riddles hidden among the library stacks to discover a secret treasure chest filled with cool bookmarks, stickers, and mini notebooks.

Special Early Bird Bonus! The first one hundred students who arrive through the main library gates will receive a reusable canvas tote bag packed with a fresh notebook and a mystery paperback book.
