A Day in Jackson
Leo buckled his seat belt in the red car. Today, his family took a fun road trip. They were driving to Jackson, the capital city of Mississippi. Leo looked out the window and saw green trees pass by. He sang songs with his big sister. Soon, he saw high buildings up ahead.
They parked near a big building with a tall golden eagle on top. It was the state capitol building! Leo held his dad's hand as they walked up the big stone steps. Inside, the ceilings were very high and shiny. Leo saw old pictures and bright flags on the walls. A nice guide told them stories about the state.
Next, the family walked to a pretty park nearby. They sat under a big oak tree and ate their lunch. Leo ate a juicy red apple and a ham sandwich. He watched small birds fly over the green grass. Leo was happy he came to Jackson on this trip. He could not wait to tell his class all about his fun day!
