Galileo and the Sun

Galileo was a very smart man. He lived a long, long time ago. He liked to look at the stars. He used a tool called a telescope. The telescope made things far away look closer.

Looking at the Sky

Galileo looked at the sky. He looked at the moon. He looked at the stars. Then, he looked at the sun! Looking at the sun can hurt your eyes. But Galileo found a way to look safely with his telescope.

What He Saw

Galileo saw spots on the sun. These spots moved. This helped him learn that the sun spins. The sun is very big. It gives Earth light and heat. Galileo's work helped us know more about the sun.

Why It Matters

Because Galileo looked at the sun, we know more about our world. He helped start science. Now we know the sun is a star. It helps plants grow. It keeps us warm. Galileo showed us we can learn by looking and asking questions. He was a great scientist!
