Note: This is a pretend interview made for classroom practice.

Question: What do you do first to make a wooden toy?

Mr. Lee: First, I draw my idea on paper.

I draw a little toy train with simple shapes.

Question: Why do you pick those shapes?

Mr. Lee: Simple shapes fit together well.

Circles make great wheels, and a long rectangle makes the train body.

Question: Who cuts the wood pieces?

Mr. Lee: Grown-ups do all the cutting.

Adults use tools in the workshop to cut and smooth the wood.

Question: What do you do after the parts are cut?

Mr. Lee: I join the parts together.

I use safe glue and small wooden pegs to attach the wheels.

Question: How do you test the new toy?

Mr. Lee: I push the toy train across the floor.

I watch closely to see if the wheels turn smoothly.

Question: What happens if the wheels stick?

Mr. Lee: I rub the axles to make them smooth.

Then I roll the train again to see it glide!
