My Day in a Fishing Village

May 12
Dear Diary,
Today was a busy day in our small town of Lubec. Lubec is a fishing village in Maine. The air smells like salt and seaweed. I love living near the blue ocean.
This morning, I went to the harbor with my dad. My dad is a lobster fisherman. We saw big red boats in the water. Seagulls flew overhead and made loud noises. The fog was thick and white like milk.
My dad pulled up heavy lobster traps from the cold water. I helped him check the traps. We found three big lobsters inside! We put small rubber bands on their claws so they would not pinch us.
After work, we sat on the wooden dock. We ate warm clam soup and looked at the water. I saw a seal pop its head up! It looked right at me. I love my home by the sea.
