Pip's First Spring
Pip was a tiny bison calf. His fur was bright orange-red. He was born in the spring. The soft green grass was wet with rain.
Pip stood on his long legs. His knees felt wobbly. He took one small step. Then he took another! Mama Bison stayed right by his side.
The wide grasslands of North Dakota were full of life. Yellow flowers bloomed in the warm sun. A little bird sang a happy song. Pip sniffed the fresh wind.
Pip wanted to explore. He ran across the green hill. His tiny hooves made soft sounds on the dirt. Mama Bison walked behind him to keep him safe.
Soon, Pip came to a small stream. The water was cool and bright. Pip stopped and looked at the water. Could he jump over it?
Pip took a big breath. He leaped into the air! He landed safely on the other side. Pip was proud. Spring was a wonderful time to grow.
