Developing English Reader

Developing English Reading Practice

Help your child grow from simple sentences to complete stories. Find engaging, level-appropriate English passages featuring read-aloud audio, interactive quizzes, and printable activities designed to build grammar confidence and reading independence for English language learners worldwide.

Is this the right level?

  • Reads short, simple English texts without help
  • Understands everyday vocabulary about home, school, and animals
  • Follows a simple story from beginning to end
  • Is ready for slightly longer texts with more detail

Developing passages use roughly Grade 2–4 reading difficulty (about A1 to A2, approximate). PicoBuddy levels describe the difficulty of the reading material. CEFR references are approximate and do not assess speaking, writing, listening, or a child’s complete English ability. Grade labels describe text difficulty and may not match a child’s age or school year.

Each passage comes with questions, an online quiz, and a printable worksheet — most can be read aloud to your child first.
