Free Persuasive Letter Reading Passages

Persuasive letter reading passages help students see how arguments can be written for a specific audience. PicoBuddy offers persuasive letter passages that combine reading comprehension with opinion writing, audience awareness and real-world communication.

Every PicoBuddy passage includes comprehension questions, an online quiz, a free PDF download and an editable Word download. You can print the letter, assign the quiz online or edit the Word version when you want to adapt the text or questions for your lesson.

Persuasive letters can help students practice identifying the request, understanding the writer’s opinion, finding reasons, noticing examples and thinking about audience. Students can also discuss whether the letter is convincing and what details make it stronger.

Topics might include asking for a school change, requesting a class pet, protecting an animal habitat, improving a playground, starting a club or encouraging healthier choices. These topics give students a clear reason to read and respond.

You can also create a custom persuasive letter passage about a specific topic, audience, grade level or classroom theme.
