Free Lower Elementary Biography Reading Passages

Lower elementary biography passages introduce young readers to real people in a simple and friendly way. PicoBuddy offers biography reading passages for early elementary students, especially Grade 1 and Grade 2 readers who are building confidence with nonfiction texts.

Every PicoBuddy passage includes comprehension questions, an online quiz, a free PDF download and an editable Word download. Teachers can print the PDF for a small group, parents can use the passage for extra reading practice and homeschoolers can edit the Word version when they want to adjust the activity.

At this level, biography passages should be clear and encouraging. Students can read about people who solved problems, helped others, created something new, played a sport, explored the world or made a difference. The focus is on simple life events, important choices and easy-to-understand achievements.

Lower elementary biography passages can help students practice remembering details, sequencing events, learning new vocabulary and answering basic comprehension questions. They also help children see that nonfiction reading can be about people and stories, not only facts.

You can also create a custom lower elementary biography passage about a person your students are curious about.
