Is Student Data Safe?

PicoBuddy learner profiles sit under an adult-managed account. Children do not need their own email address, password, subscription, or billing profile.

Use the minimum information needed

Use a nickname, initials, or another short label where practical. Do not enter a child's email address, exact date of birth, contact details, photo, voice, health information, diagnosis, student number, or school record.

A nickname can still be personal data when the adult knows who it represents, so protect the account and share learner access carefully.

Kid access is limited

A learner's private link, QR code, and pairing code open only the child space connected to that profile. They do not open adult billing, account settings, other learner profiles, or the adult library controls.

Treat the link and QR code like keys. Share them only with the intended learner and reset the login if access was shared accidentally or an old device should stop working.

Adults control AI access

Pico's AI help in the child space is off until an adult enables it for that learner. The adult can turn it off again from Access & AI. Where supported AI features use a saved learner, PicoBuddy replaces the known learner name with a temporary placeholder before sending the request to the AI provider.

Automated protection cannot identify every personal detail typed into free text. Adults and learners should never enter private contact, medical, diagnosis, or school-record information into AI prompts.

Tracking in the child space

The child space does not use marketing or advertising tracking. Technical and activity information needed to run the experience and save learning results is handled separately from advertising analytics.
