How to write a useful passage prompt

Give PicoBuddy a clear topic, purpose, and essential details without adding private learner information.

Updated 8/25/2026 prompt, generator, AI, topic

A short, concrete prompt usually works better than a list of vague keywords.

Include:

  • the central topic or situation;
  • any fact, concept, setting, or point of view that must appear;
  • the purpose when it matters, such as comparing two ideas or explaining a process.

Choose the grade, text type, and length in their own controls instead of repeating every setting in the prompt.

Do not enter a learner's full name, contact details, health information, school record, or another sensitive detail. ā€œA story about a child who loves trainsā€ usually works as well as identifying the real child.

AI can invent or distort facts. Review factual claims, questions, and answers before use. If the first result is off, make the instruction more specific and create a new version.
