How to choose who picks a child’s online practice

Choose whether the child, the adult, or both decide what appears first.

Updated 8/24/2026 online practice, who picks, child mode, shelf

The Who picks what your child does? setting controls what your child or student sees first after signing in. In PicoBuddy, the wording uses the name saved in their profile.

  1. Open My Library and select Children.
  2. Open your child’s or student’s profile.
  3. Find Who picks what your child does? and choose Change. On screen, you will see the profile name instead of “your child.”
  4. Select one of these three options:
  • Your child picks — Everything is open. Activities you put ready appear at the top. On screen, this option uses the profile name.
  • Your picks first — Your child or student starts with one thing you chose. After finishing it, everything opens for the rest of that day.
  • Only your picks — Your child or student sees only what you put ready.

If nothing is waiting on the Shelf and there is no active planned activity, PicoBuddy opens the available child areas. Your child or student is not left with an empty screen.

You can change this setting at any time. It does not delete activities or results.
