What Pico can do

What you can ask the chat for, what it will never do, and how many questions your plan includes.

Updated 8/3/2026 pico, chat, ai, assistant, questions

Pico is the chat panel in the corner of PicoBuddy. He knows this account — your children, what they have practiced, what is set for them — and nothing else.

What you can ask him

  • Find something to read. A topic, a theme, a reading level: he searches the library and shows what he found as cards you can open.
  • How is my child doing? He can look at one child's last two weeks in detail, and talk about what is actually there.
  • What should they work on? He can propose a practice path — about four steps matched to their level — which appears as a card with a button. Nothing is set up until you press it.
  • Make something new. When the library has nothing that fits, he can fill in the create form for you. Creating still costs one creation credit, and only you can start it.
  • How does this work? Passages, quizzes, word games, coloring pages, practice paths, workbooks, child logins.

What he will never do

  • Change anything by himself. Every suggestion is a card with a button. He cannot set a path, spend a credit, or change a setting.
  • Look outside this account. He cannot see other families, other classes, or anything on the internet.
  • See your child's real name. Names are replaced before anything is sent to the AI, and put back in the answer you read.
  • Diagnose or compare. He never suggests a condition or difficulty, and never measures your child against other children or against "where they should be". If you are worried about something, he will gently point you to your child's school — because that is a conversation for a person, not a robot.

He can be wrong

Pico is an AI. He can misread a number or misremember how something works. Everything he says about a child comes from the results on your child's own pages, and those pages are always the source of truth.

How many questions you get

On the free plan Pico answers 10 questions a week, and on Basic 25 — enough to see what he is for. On Pro and Max he is unlimited, and only on those plans can he draft new material for you. The counter in the panel shows what is left; it resets every Monday.

Which language he speaks

Pico answers in the language you are using PicoBuddy in, and looks for material in that language. If you want something in the other language, just ask — "find an English text about volcanoes" works from the Spanish app, and he will keep talking to you in Spanish.

Word games, grammar practice and vocabulary practice exist in English only. Pico will still point you to them, and he will say that they are English.
