What Student Data Does PicoBuddy Store?

The profile, access, activity, and progress information used to give a learner their own PicoBuddy experience.

Updated 8/24/2026 learner data, profile information, activity results, kid login, privacy

PicoBuddy stores the information needed to keep a learner's experience and progress connected under the adult account. The exact fields depend on which features the adult and learner use.

Learner profile information

A profile can contain:

  • a display label or nickname;
  • a preset avatar;
  • grade or level;
  • interests and preferences chosen during setup or in the child space;
  • the adult's settings for kid access and Pico's AI help.

Do not use a full name when a nickname or initials are enough. Do not add a child's email address, exact date of birth, contact details, photo, voice, diagnosis, medical information, student number, or school record.

Activities and progress

Depending on what the learner uses, PicoBuddy can store:

  • activities put ready by the adult;
  • an active or completed practice path;
  • activity and quiz attempts;
  • answers, scores, feedback, completion, and dates where the activity records them;
  • summary statistics used on the learner dashboard.

Not every activity records the same detail. Some provide answer-level review, while others record a score or completion only.

Kid access

When kid access is enabled, PicoBuddy stores the technical access information needed to recognize the learner's link and signed-in devices. The adult can reset access, which stops old links, QR codes, and child sessions from working.

The learner does not receive an ordinary PicoBuddy account, billing profile, or subscription.

AI features

If the adult enables a supported AI feature, PicoBuddy may use learner context needed for that request. Known saved names are replaced with temporary placeholders before the request is sent to the AI provider. Free text still requires care because automated protection cannot recognize every personal detail.

Access, correction, and deletion requests

You can manage your child’s or student’s profile and access in My Library. If you would like to learn more about your privacy choices or making a data request, read the Privacy Policy. You can also contact support if you need help.

Read the Privacy Policy and Privacy for learners for the complete notices.
